CNC Machining PEEK:

At Ktech we specialize in machining specialty materials such as PEEK (Polyetherketone), we machine a variety of different types of parts from the various grades of PEEK material such as different percentages of glass filled PEEK and Virgin PEEK. PEEK is a thermoplastic with many desirable characteristics for the electronics industry and uses where resistance to high temperature degradation is important. Peek is on the more expensive materials when it comes to specialty plastics. PEEK melts at around 350°C (662°F) and is highly resistant to thermal degradation. The material is also resistant to both organic and aqueous environments. PEEK also exhibits good chemical resistance in many other environments, including alkalis (i.e. sodium, potassium and ammonium hydroxides), aromatic hydrocarbons, alcohols (i.e. ethanol, propanol), greases, oils and halogenated hydrocarbons.

Uses for Peek:
PEEK is used in bearings, piston parts, pumps, compressor plate valves, and cable insulation applications. It is one of the few plastics compatible with ultra-high vacuum applications. The large temperature range of PEEK makes it a very useful product in the electrical circuitry industry.

Properties of PEEK
Density 1300 kg/m3
Young’s modulus (E) 3700 MPa
Tensile strength (σt) 90 MPa
Melting Point ~350 °C
Heat transfer coefficient (λ) 0.25 W/m.K
Linear expansion coefficient (α) 1.7 10-5 /K
Machinability PEEK is easily machined using high speeds (RPM), high feeds, and lots of coolant.

If you have any questions regarding our work or CNC machining peek please call or email:

NOTE:
We have helped customers save considerable amounts on CNC machined parts by switching materials from PEEK to a different thermoplastic that exhibits very similar characteristics but costs considerably less for raw material.
