Machining Plastic Parts : CNC Machined Plastics : PEEK, Delrin, Ultem, Nylatron

Machining Engineered Platics:

At Ktech one of our specialties is cnc machining plastics for applications such as electronics, oil and gas, food and beverage, and medical research. There are virtually numerous types and grades of engineering plastics available, below is a brief list of some of the types of plastics we frequently cnc machine plastic parts from. You will find information such as machinability, melting point, maximum service temperature in air, and a material cost reference.

Machinability scale: 1-10 (1 being easiest to machine)

Cost scale: 1-10 (1 being  the lowest relative cost)

Delrin / Acetron

  • Melting Point: 168 °C or 335 °F
  • Maximum Service Temperature, Air 82.2 °C or 180 °F
  • Machinability scale: 1
  • Cost scale: 2

Nylatron GS

  • Melting Point 260 °C or 500 °F
  • Maximum Service Temperature, Air 104 °C or 220 °F
  • Machinability scale: 1
  • Cost Scale: 2

Ultem 1000 (no glass reinforcement)

  • High strength and performs in continuous use to 340°F (170°C)
  • Melting Point 330 °C or 660 °F
  • Maximum Service Temperature, Air 171 °C or 340 °F
  • Machinabilty scale: 3
  • Cost scale: 3.5

PEEK 1000 (no glass reinforcement)

  • Melting Point 340 °C or 644 °F
  • Maximum Service Temperature, Air 249 °C or 480 °F
  • Machinability scale: 3
  • Cost scale: 7

At Ktech we have experience machining many different types of plastics and achieving close tollerances. If you require cnc machined plastic parts please contact Ktech Manufacturing for a quotation.
